Job Title: Counselor for Intensive Prevention Services
ROLE:
The IPS counselor’s role is to make referrals to, needed services, and active goal-directed support for the youth and family. The IPS Counselor will identify and connect youth and their families to the needed services and monitor the family and youth’s engagement in the IPS program. The role of the IPS counselor is to develop the service plan in collaboration with the case manager, youth and parent. The counselor will provide direct case work to youth and family. The IPS counselor will oversee referrals to other service providers.
Salary: $31,720.00 to $33,720.00 Salary is based on experience and “unsocial” work hours.
HOURS OF WORK
Assignments are based on a 40-hour week. Weekly schedules are developed based upon the on- site programming. Counselor will work primarily in the late morning/late afternoon and evenings, specifically during the school year and at weekends to provide maximum involvement with the family and the identified clients which runs after school during the academic year.
Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in Social Work, or related field with two to three years experience working with at-risk youth and families within the child welfare system. Satisfactory clearances including FBI background check not dated more than 60 days prior to hire. Must have a valid driver’s license and the daily use of automobile with current and valid auto insurance.
