The Juvenile Justice Center of Philadelphia (JJC) is a non-profit, multi-service organization that serves the needs of children, youth and families in need of services to promote healthy and productive outcomes related to their emotional, behavioral well-being, social and educational progress. Our service delivery model is to provide quality intervention and prevention services to children, youth, and families through supportive services. JJC has a Resource Home Support Specialist opening in our Coulter Street office.
The Resource Home Specialist works within the Foster Care/Permanency Services team by providing support and oversight to existing and potential resource and adoptive parents. This position provides services to children placed in foster, kinship and or pre-adoptive homes. Responsibilities are inclusive of some case management services, recruitment of new foster homes, child profile writing and other child preparation services when needed. The Support Specialist ensures compliance documentation is kept monthly on all resource homes and ensures parents are providing quality and nurturing care to children placed in their home.
The primary role is ensuring the needs of the children in placement are met. The Specialist works with the resource family and ensures compliance with agency, state and local foster care/adoption regulations. The specialist will also work with CUA case managers/DHS social workers regarding the coordination of care and partnering on resolving any issue that may jeopardize the placement stability within the home. This position requires the use of a car daily and a willingness to transport children to an appointment and or to school until permanent transportation can be arranged to help with placement stability if needed. The position requires flexibility in scheduling appointments outside of normal working hours and being on-call to respond to any new placements and or emergencies that may happen after 5pm and on weekends/holidays.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related degree accepted by the Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS)
- Two years of experience working with children and families in a foster care/adoption agency
