Social Worker for Juvenile Justice Involved Youth

The Juvenile Justice Center of Philadelphia (JJC) is a non-profit, multi-service organization that serves the needs of disadvantaged children, youth and families. Our mission is to maintain families through supportive services, to prevent children and youth from being placed in care, and also to ready families for reunification with their children. JJC has a Social Worker position opening in our Residential and Group Services program servicing juvenile justice involved youth.

Job Summary

The Social Worker is an integral team member of the Foster Care and Placement Services department. The Social Worker provides case management services to youth in the group homes operated by JJC that service youth who have been adjudicated delinquent and pre-adjudicated delinquent. The group home offers community based residential living to up to six pre-adjudicated females (Overbrook group home) and up to eight adjudicated delinquent males (Gainor Rd) group home. The position involves advocacy, case management, and discharge planning for youth who are transitioning back home, independent living, or long term placements. The average length of stay for each client is between three to nine months. The Social Worker must be prepared to adjust these hours in accord with the needs of his/her clients. The Social Worker is also assigned out-of-office, on-call duty on a rostered basis.


Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or other human service related field.
Three years’ experience working with adolescents within the juvenile justice system.
